Obama's Speech
It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness.
This is from Obama’s inspiring speech last night. I was right there with him, you know? In my mind I could see those founding fathers founding, those abolitionists abolishing, those immigrants immigrating, and of course, my favorites, those pioneering pioneers— the determined early Americans battling for survival in a vast and uninhabited landscape so harsh and unforgiving that no human beings had ever figured out how to survive there before!
